The Signature Theatre revival of Stephen Adly Guirgis’ Our Lady of 121st Street officially opened Off-Broadway May 20. The production, which follows the acclaimed, three-time extended Signature production of Guirgis’ Jesus Hopped the ‘A’ Train, is directed by Tony winner Phylicia Rashad.
Our Lady of 121st Street began May 1 and is scheduled to play through June 10. In Guirgis’ 2002 play, a group of former students return to their Harlem neighborhood to pay respects to the late Sister Rose. Once there, they discover that her body has been stolen.
