Atlantic Theater Company celebrates the official opening of Rajiv Joseph’s Describe the Night December 5. The new play by the Tony-nominated playwright (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, Guards at the Taj) charts the crossed paths of seven men and women against the backdrop of Russian history.

The New York premiere of Describe the Night is directed by Giovanna Sardelli. Performances began November 11 in Atlantic Theater Company’s Linda Gross Theater.
The cast is made up of six-time Tony nominee Danny Burstein, Rebecca Naomi Jones (Significant Other), Tina Benko (The Public's Julius Caesar), Nadia Bowers (The Farnsworth Invention), Zach Grenier (The Good Wife), Max Gordon Moore (Indecent), and Stephen Stocking (Archduke at The Mark Taper Forum). The play is scheduled to run Off-Broadway through December 24.
Describe the Night features sets by Tim Mackabee, costumes by Amy Clark, lighting design by Lap Chi Chu, and sound design and original music by Daniel Gluger. Casting is by Telsey + Company.
Joseph’s plays include Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, which was produced on Broadway in 2011, as well Guards at the Taj, which also played at the Atlantic, Animals Out of Paper, and The North Pool.
Describe the Night was commissioned by Houston's Alley Theatre, where it had its world premiere.
