Nicholas Braun (formerly of HBO's Succession) is currently starring in a play called Gruesome Playground Injuries. So naturally, Playbill had to ask him to about his own memorable work injuries, to which he excitedly provided us with two anecdotes: one of which landed him in the hospital going, "I've been shot!" Watch the video below to learn about that.

In Gruesome Playground Injuries by Rajiv Joseph, running at the Lucille Lortel Theatre until December 28, Braun stars opposite two-time Tony Award winner Kara Young. The two play lifelong friends, who over the course of their life experience a series of injuries, both physical and emotional—and their only steady source of support (and visitor to the hospital) is each other. For Young, fresh off her Tony-winning run in Purpose, doing a two-hander where she was playing a character from age 8 to 38 felt like a delicious challenge.

"In my life as an actor, I really enjoy playing young people, and the fact that you get to stretch your instrument in a way of jumping from 8 to 13 to 23 to 28 to 33 to 38. We get to see a human being," says Young.

Gruesome Playground Injuries premiered in 2009, in a production starring Selma Blair and Brad Fleischerat the Alley Theater in Houston, Texas. It made its New York debut in 2011.

This revival is directed by Neil Pepe.
