Rehearsals are underway for the upcoming world premiere of Camilo Almonacid's Hotel Happy, set to take the stage at 122CC's 2nd Floor Theater Off-Broadway beginning February 14 via Houses on the Moon Theater Company. Opening night is February 18, and the run will continue through March 3.
The new work is set at a "high-end erotic resort" in Bogotá, Colombia, where three sex workers are hiding a donkey from three American mercenaries on a special mission.
The cast features Annelise Cepero as Candela, Michael Frederic as Ron, Yadira Guevara Prip as Lulu, Ed Herbstman as John, Eddie McGee as Bob, Isabella Orrego as Sofi, and Lidia Porto as Madame Carlotta.
Estefanía Fadul is directing, with Matt Acheson (War Horse) as puppet director. The production will also feature scenic design by Tanya Orellana, lighting design by Carolina Ortiz Herrera, costume design by Haydee Zelideth Antuñano, and sound design by Daniela Hart, Bailey Trierweiler, Noel Nichols, and UptownWorks. Jamie Rose Bukowski is production stage manager, and Bleu Zephra Santiago is assistant stage manager. Weathervane Theatre is serving as associate producer.
