Alice By Heart, Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater’s new musical, is scheduled to run through April 7 at the Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space. The new adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic, starring Molly Gordon and Colton Ryan, opened February 26 after beginning preview performances January 30.
Resetting the action in a London tube station during World War II, Alice By Heart follows Alice Spencer (Gordon) as her budding teen life is turned upside down, and she escapes with her childhood friend Alfred (Ryan, who does double duty as the White Rabbit) into their most cherished book. They journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland, finding first love, loss, and the courage to move forward, and their imaginations transform even the harshest circumstances.
