The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the biggest arts festival in the world, with nearly 3,500 shows. This year, Playbill is in Edinburgh for the entire month in August for the festival and we’re taking you with us. Follow along as we cover every single aspect of the Fringe, aka our real-life Brigadoon!
Hot Queer Magic is one of Fringe festival's most joyous late-night revues. True to its name, this is a cabaret that is undeniably hot (the evening's burlesque performer ushered in the beginning of spooky season, with witch puppets on both hands and rhinestone spider lingerie), queer (a costume highlight—a golden crown emblazoned with the trans flag), and magical (fans of costume reveals will not be disappointed).
From award-winning south London cabaret favorite Pink Lotus, Hot Queer Magic was as raucous, hilarious, and outrageous as promised. Drag kings, drag queens, and royalty beyond categorization made us laugh, cheer, blush, and feel immense pride in the beauty and celebration of being queer.
