There are giants in the sky. Off-Broadway's Ars Nova just opened its latest show: the medieval-themed The Beastiary. See photos from the show, which features some eye-opening puppetry, in the gallery below. The Beastiary runs until November 9 at the Greenwich House Theatre.
The Beastiary takes place in an alternate reality where humans can no longer give birth and dragons, unicorns, giants, and other creatures roam the Earth. The "puppet pageant" is written by Christopher Ford and Dakota Rose, of On The Rocks Theatre Co; and directed by Rose. It features original music by Dorit Chrysler, with additional music composition and music supervision by Ellen Winter.
The cast includes Marc Bovino, Cornelius Loy, Rebeca Miller, Gil Perez-Abraham, Phillip Taratula, Ellen Winter, and Jeena Yi. The creative team includes music supervisor Ellen Winter, composer Dorit Chrysler, scenic designers Christopher Ford and Dakota Rose, costume and puppet designer Christopher Ford, lighting designer Kate McGee, sound designer Enrico de Trizio, and production stage manager Kristy Bodall. Casting is by Henry Russell Bergstein and The Telsey Company's Destiny Lilly.
