Recent Oh, Mary! star Michael Urie (upcoming Richard II for Red Bull) hosted Tectonic Theater Project's A Tectonic Cabaret benefit gala October 20 at the Edison Ballroom in NYC. 

The evening honored Tony-winning producer Barbara Whitman with the James C. Hormel Spirit of Tectonic Award and Emmy winner and Tony nominee Uzo Audba with The Jane Fonda Award in recognition of her deep commitment to activism and social justice.

Directed by Amy Marie Seidel, under the artistic supervision of Moisés Kaufman and with musical direction by Julianne Merrill, the evening featured performances by 2025 Tony winner Natalie Venetia Belcon, Tony nominee Beth Malone, Erin Morton, and puppeteer Dan Hurlin as well as costumes by Dede Ayite.

Proceeds from the cabaret benefit Tectonic Theater Project’s development of new works and education through the Moment Work Institute.

Since its founding in 1991, Tectonic has created and staged over 20 plays and musicals, including Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, The Laramie Project, Doug Wright’s Pulitzer Prize-winning I Am My Own Wife, 33 Variations, Seven Deadly Sins, and its newest world-premiere play, Here There Are Blueberries, a 2024 Pulitzer Prize Finalist for Drama.
