With a book and lyrics by Ashman and music by Menken, Little Shop of Horrors is based on the 1960 cult movie of the same name. The musical version debuted Off-Broadway at WPA Theatre in 1982 starring Lee Wilkof and Ellen Greene in a role that would become her signature. A Broadway production was mounted in 2003 co-starring Hunter Foster and Kerry Butler. The long-running Off-Broadway revival continues at the Westside Theatre.

The creative team also includes music director Denise Prosek, scenic designer Lex Liang, costume designer Sully Ratke, lighting designer Allen L. Hughes, sound designer Matt Kraus, puppet designer Chris Lutter, associate music director Jason Hansen, resident dramaturg Carla Steen, vocal coach Keely Wolter, fight and intimacy director Annie Enneking, resident casting director Jennifer Liestman, stage manager Lori Lundquist, assistant stage managers Jason Clusman and Matthew Meeks, and assistant director Wesley Mouri plus NYC casting consultant McCorkle Casting, Ltd.
