The Hills of California follows the Webb sisters’ return to their childhood home in an English seaside town as their mother is dying in an upstairs bedroom. As girls, their fierce, ambitious mother trained them for a singing career à la The Andrews Sisters. Now, past and present collide as memories resurface with haunting clarity.

The creative team also includes choreographer Misha Shields, scenic designers Andrew Boyce and Se Hyun Oh, costume designer Jennifer von Mayrhauser, lighting designer Russell H. Champa, sound designer David Van Tieghem, casting director Janet Foster, musical director Daniel Rodriguez, dialect and vocal coach Ashleigh Reade, fight and intimacy coach Jesse Hinson, and hair, wig, and makeup designer for J. Jared Janas.

Kevin Schlagle is the stage manager with assistant stage managers Ashley Pitchford and Sofie Miller.

The Hills of California concluded its Broadway run December 22, 2024, after opening September 29 at the Broadhurst Theatre. The production, which previously played an Olivier-nominated run in London, had Sam Mendes at the helm, reunited with Butterworth after staging the Off-Broadway, West End, and Broadway bows of The Ferryman. The Broadway production was nominated for seven 2025 Tony Awards, including Best Play.
