Staged "in the round" by California Musical Theatre artistic director Scott Eckern, the production stars Music Circus newcomer Cristin Mortenson (Phantom of the Opera tour, By Jeeves on Broadway) as Maria and George Dvorsky (The Scarlet Pimpernel, Passion) as Captain von Trapp.
Tony Award nominee Meg Bussert (Brigadoon, The Music Man) is featured as Mother Abbess, with Elizabeth Ward Land as Elsa Schraeder, Dick Decareau as Max, Tristan Rumery as Rolf Gruber and Paige Silvester as Liesl.
Rounding out the cast are Natalie Ross as Sister Berthe, Christine Rowan as Sister Maragaretta, Joël René as Sister Sophia, Susan Denaker as Frau Schmidt, Ed Brazo as Franz, Stephen Crandall as Herr Zeller, Roger McDonald as Elberfeld/Von Schreiber, Cameron Dayton as Friedrich, Carly Speno as Louisa, Alex Greenlee as Kurt, Joelle Jacoby as Brigitta, Michelina Hanlon as Marta and Camy Rae Wilson as Gretl.
The Sound of Music will run for 12 performances at downtown Sacramento's Wells Fargo Pavilion.
