Film & TV News New TV Series The Mayor, From Hamilton’s Daveed Diggs, Premieres October 3 The show stars Lea Michele and Brandon Michael Hall.

On October 3, the new television series The Mayor comes to ABC. From executive producer Tony winner Daveed Diggs, The Mayor tells the story of Courtney Rose, played by Brandon Michael Hall, a rapper who runs for local office to generate buzz for his music career. But when he unexpectedly wins the election, he earns more responsibility than notoriety.

Actor Lea Michele (Spring Awakening, Glee) plays Rose’s chief of staff, Valentina Barella. The cast also features Bernard David Jones as Jermaine Leforge, Marcel Spears at T.K. Clifton, and Yvette Nicole Brown as Dina Rose.

Since winning his Tony in 2016 for Hamilton, Diggs took on the recurring role of Johan Johnson on black-ish, appeared on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, wrapped filming on Wonder alongside Julia Roberts, provided voice over for the upcoming Ferdinand, and has the upcoming series Snowpiercer. He is also co-writing, co-producing, and co-starring in the new movie Blindspotting. He is also still making music with his group clipping.
