The Mayor, ABC’s new political series that is executive-produced by Tony Award-winning Hamilton star Daveed Diggs, will not return as scheduled on January 9. ABC has pulled the plug on the series mid-season after it struggled to find a primetime audience, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The show about a young hip-hop artist who runs for local office in a stunt to generate buzz for his music career—and unexpectedly wins the election—premiered October 3, 2017. Seven episodes of the original 13-episode order have aired so far.
