Neil Patrick Harris, who was last on Broadway in a Tony-winning turn in the revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, will head the cast of the TV adaptation Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events, according to Deadline.com.

The Netflix series, which will be produced by Paramount TV, will feature direction by Barry Sonnenfeld. Filming in Vancouver is expected to begin this month.

A Series Of Unfortunate Events, according to the industry website, “recounts the tale of the orphaned children Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Sunny Baudelaire at the hands of the villainous Count Olaf (Harris), as they face trials and tribulations, misfortunes and an evil uncle in search of their fortune, all in their quest to uncover the secret of their parents’ deaths.”

Jim Carrey played Count Olaf in the 2004 film of the same story.

Harris is a multiple Emmy winner for hosting the Tony Awards and for his guest stint on Glee. His last TV outing was the short-lived Best Time Ever.
