The Off-Broadway theatre company Bedlam, which recently presented a revival of Tom Stoppard's Arcadia, has announced its upcoming shows for 2024.
The new season will begin February 24 with the world premiere of Artistic Director Eric Tucker's The Assassination of Julius Caesar as Told by William Shakespeare and George Bernard Shaw at the West End Theater on W. 86th St. Adapted and directed by Tucker from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar and Shaw's Caesar and Cleopatra, the new work offers an in-depth
examination of Caesar by combining Shakespeare
and Shaw’s character as one.
Music City, a new musical by country songwriter J.T. Harding, with a book by Peter Zinn, will follow beginning September 28, also at the West End. Helmed by Artistic Director Tucker, the production will offer a first-hand account of the drug
epidemic in America and a struggling artist’s attempt at overcoming
that war to achieve the dream of becoming a successful Nashville
singer/songwriter.
The musical features hits written by Harding for Uncle Kracker, Blake Shelton, Darius Rucker, Keith Urban, Dierks Bently, Kenny Chesney, and Florida Georgia Line in addition to seven original tunes.
Casting and additional creative team members will be announced for both productions in the coming months.
Tickets are now on sale at Bedlam.org.
