These and other guest stars will perform a special concert version of the Kander & Ebb song revue And the World Goes Round. Neuwirth won one her two Tony Awards for playing Velma Kelly in the 1996 revival of Kander & Ebb’s Chicago. She also won a Tony for her performance in the 1986 revival of Sweet Charity, and is widely known for her performances on TV’s Cheers and its spinoff, Frasier.

Among those newly announced to honor Neuwirth’s work at the gala: Adams (Priscilla Queen of the Desert, A Chorus Line), Arcelus (Madam Secretary, Wicked), and Pedi (Talk Radio, Chicago), plus Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (A Little Night Music, Cabaret), Jeannette Bayardelle (The Color Purple, Hair), Michael Cunio (Hairspray), Tyler Hanes (Cats), Morgan James (The Addams Family, Godspell), Jelani Remy (The Lion King), Carrie St. Louis (Wicked), Ali Stroker (Glee, Spring Awakening), Katie Thompson, (Giant, Big Fish), Sally Ann Triplett (Finding Neverland, The Last Ship), Pierre Marais (Saturday Night Fever), Ilda Mason (Cinderella, West Side Story), and Lily Kaufmann (Newsies, Hairspray).

“It is my great honor to celebrate the extraordinary talents of Bebe Neuwirth at this year’s gala,” said Abingdon Artistic Director Tony Speciale. “I had the distinct privilege of directing her in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Classic Stage Company a few years ago, and it remains one of the most collaborative highlights of my career. I can’t think of a better way to kick off our 25th anniversary season than honoring Ms. Neuwirth, who has contributed so much to the American theatre, with a special presentation of Kander and Ebb’s And the World Goes ‘Round.”

Individual gala tickets, starting at $500, can be ordered at AbingdonTheatre.org. The Edison Ballroom is located at 240 W. 47th Street in Manhattan.
