Gingold Theatrical Group, currently presenting a reimagined production of George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion Off-Broadway, will celebrate its 20th anniversary December 1 at The Players.
The GTG 20th Anniversary Gala, set to begin at 6 PM, will honor Tony winners Danny Burstein and Donna McKechnie as well as Gray Coleman with the Golden Shamrock Award.
GTG’s Golden Shamrock Award is given annually to celebrate artistic and cultural contributions to society, as inspired by Shaw’s activist humanitarianism. Previous recipients include Charles Busch, Tyne Daly, Judith Ivey, Kenneth Lonergan, Kate Mulgrew, Brian Murray, Robert Osborne, Martha Plimpton, Stephen Schwartz, Pamela Singleton, Tom Viola, and Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
The evening of dinner, drinks, and dancing will also feature performances by Charles Busch, John-Andrew Morrison, Christine Pedi, and Thom Sesma, with a special performance by Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz. Musical direction is by Patrick Vaccariello.
Burstein, recently seen opposite Audra McDonald in the revival of Gypsy, is a seven-time Tony nominee and winner for Moulin Rouge! The Musical. With over 20 Broadway credits, his performances include Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret, Follies, The Drowsy Chaperone, South Pacific, The Seagull, Titanic, and Company. He is the recipient of two Drama Desk Awards, four Outer Critics Circle Awards, and three Grammy nominations.
McKechnie, recently seen on Broadway in Wicked, received the Tony for creating the iconic role of Cassie in A Chorus Line and was inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame in 2019. She has also starred on the Main Stem in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying; Promises, Promises; Company; On the Town; State Fair; and the one-night celebration Stephen Sondheim – A Musical Tribute (which she also choreographed). McKechnie’s accolades include the Fred Astaire Award, the Bistro Award, and the Los Angeles Drama League Award.
