The Second Stage Theater Off-Broadway revival of Harvey Fierstein’s Torch Song Trilogy—now simply Torch Song—co-starring Michael Urie and Mercedes Ruehl, met the press September 19. The production, directed by Moisés Kaufman, will begin performances September 26 and will now play through December 3.

Torch Song will officially open October 19 in the Tony Kiser Theater. As previously announced, Fierstein has provided newly edited text for the 35th anniversary production.
Rounding out the cast are Jack DiFalco (Marvin’s Room), Ward Horton (Pure Genius), Roxanna Hope Radja (Frost/Nixon), and Michael Rosen (On the Town).
Partially inspired by Sophocles' Antigone, the show is an intimate exploration of love that goes beyond faith between a queer Pakistani-American man and his deeply devout mother.
