Wife-husband acting team of Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley will bring their Broadway & Beyond nightclub show to the CLO Cabaret at Theater Square in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for two performances, 7 and 9:30 PM on February 12.
Broadway & Beyond includes numbers from Broadway shows they have appeared in, including Ragtime, Passion, The Full Monty, Curtains, The Visit and Kiss Me, Kate, plus standards from their many TV appearances, cabaret, concert hall, and symphony performances.
Mazzie has been nominated for the Tony Award as Best Actress in a Musical for the 1999 revival of Kiss Me, Kate, and original productions of Ragtime and Passion. Danieley has been featured in The Full Monty, Curtains, Candide, and The Visit.
Watch Mazzie and Danieley sing Ahrens & Flaherty’s “Opposite You” from The Glorious Ones, which will be part of their show:
Danieley told Playbill that they have assembled a concert that will combine “some of the songs from some of the shows we’ve introduced on Broadway, and some of the songs we’ve performed on PBS in Concert. It’s kind of like a greatest hits but we have a variety of things that no one’s ever seen unless you’ve seen us in concert.”
“Also,” Mazzie said, “we’re going to talk about our marriage and about the journey we’ve been on, especially the last couple of years with my ovarian cancer and what that does to a relationship.”
“And how that changes the songs we’ve been singing for 20 years,” Danieley said. “For instance we have a different look and approach to [Stephen Sondheim’s] ‘Not a Day Goes By’ which Marin’s been singing for a long time. Which plays different now because of where we’ve been.”
