The three plays are linked by the concept of mental health and share a common character: a shrink. In Phyllis and Kirby, a young woman "is thrown by her esteemed psychologist's new approach." Jack and Jane features an actor who is unnerved by a shocking discovery about his therapist. The third work, Margarita, is about a woman, who enlists the help of "a fictional television psychiatrist." The cast of Shrinkage includes Susan Blackwell, Laura Camien, Jeffrey Doornbos, Brian Hotaling and Janet Ward.
