Mandy Patinkin Will Executive Produce Ivan Cash Documentary The Ever Curious Man

Tony and Emmy winner Mandy Patinkin will executive produce The Ever Curious Man, the first documentary feature film from Ivan Cash.

Patinkin is executive producing with his wife, actor and writer Kathryn Grody, with Jake Ewald serving as producer.

The Ever Curious Man, which has cinematography by Jamal Solomon and editing by Elise Ahrens, focuses on the artistic legacy of a compulsive 80-year old artist, glass sculptor Sydney Cash, who is facing a crossroads. The lease to his biggest storage space of 35 years is ending, forcing the family and him to decide what will happen to all of his work (some pieces are 12 feet tall). The film explores the beauty and cost of being an artist, through the lens of glass sculptor Cash.

“I admire Ivan’s push to share this deeply personal story in this format,” said Patinkin in a statement. “He’s turned this portrait of an artist into so much more; a captivating tableau of success and disappointment—resentment and reconciliation.”

“This documentary gets at the collective existential crisis that one person can spur,” added director Ivan Cash. "By exploring and even culling my father's art work, we've grappled with the weight behind the question, 'What gets left behind?”

Known for his stage roles in Evita, Sunday in the Park With George, The Secret Garden, and The Wild Party, Patinkin's concert repertoire includes the solo shows Diaries 2018, Dress Casual, Celebrating Sondheim, and Mamaloshen as well as four collaborations: An Evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin, An Evening with Mandy Patinkin & Nathan Gunn, The Last Two People on Earth: An Apocalyptic Vaudeville, and Bridges: The Sounds Between the Black and White Keys.

Among Patinkin's many screen credits are Homeland, Yentl, The Princess Bride, Alien Nation, Dick Tracy, Chicago Hope, and Criminal Minds. He was recently inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame.
