Audible has released the first audio recording of Sharon Washington's autobiographical solo show, Feeding the Dragon. The solo play, which recalls her childhood home above a New York Public Library and her love of books, played Off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre earlier this year.
Listen to an excerpt from Audible's recording below:
In Feeding the Dragon, Scottsboro Boys actor Washington recalls living on the top floor of the St. Agnes branch of the NYPL, where her father served as the building’s custodian, and how her passion for literature has helped her battle dragons—in all their forms—throughout her life.
You can purchase the audio recording on Audible here. It runs 77 minutes.
Feeding the Dragon was written and performed by Washington with direction by Maria Mileaf. Prior to its Off-Broadway premiere, produced by Primary Stages, the play also played in Pittsburgh and Hartford.
