Off-Broadway's York Theatre Company has announced its 2024 fall season, including the New2NY series.
This New2NY season will feature four new musicals, minimally staged for their New York debut. The first New2NY presentations were seen in 2008, in a series which included In Transit prior to its Broadway run. Other musicals that have been seen as New2NY presentations include the Larry Grossman revue Compose Yourself!, Andréa Frierson’s me and ella, and most recently 2023’s When We Get There by Lasser, Young Jr. and Barnett.
This year's four shows include Now Comes the Fun Part (The How-the-f*#k-did-I-get-this-old Musical), running August 28-September 1; Twist of Fate, running September 7-15; Monte Cristo, running September 23-October 1; and InunDATEd, running October 4-13.
Following New2NY will be the world premiere of Welcome to the Big Dipper, running November 19-December 29. The new musical is based on a true event, and inspired by the play All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go by Catherine Filloux, with music and lyrics by Jimmy Roberts (I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change), book by Catherine Filloux and John Daggett, and additional lyrics by Daggett. Cast and creative team will be announced at a later date.
