Eight musicals will get developmental presentations October 23-24 at New World Stages.

A host of theatre notables have joined the roster of actors who will perform in the National Alliance for Musical Theatre's 37th Annual Festival of New Musicals, set to be held October 23-24 at New World Stages. The year's iteration of the festival will present readings of eight new musicals.

The actors performing in the developmental readings will be Aeden Croix Alvarez, Gabriel Bernal (The Lightning Thief), Mayelah Berrera (El Otro Oz), Chad Carstarphen (Hell’s Kitchen), Miguel Cervantes (Hamilton), Genesis Adelia Collado (Notes from Now), Brandon Contreras (Operation Mincemeat), Major Curda (KPOP), Dexter Darden (Saved by the Bell), Sidney DuPont (Paradise Square), Latoya Edwards (White Girl in Danger), Andrew Faria (Rent), Andrea Frierson (Once on This Island), Abe Goldfarb (Beetlejuice), Ted Guzman (Anything Goes), Grey Henson (Shucked), F. Michael Haynie (The Heart of Rock and Roll), MaryAnn Hu (Frozen), Ryan Jacobs (School of Rock), Taylor Iman Jones (SIX: The Musical), Claire Kwon (Maybe Happy Ending), Raymond J. Lee (Masquerade), Nathan Levy (Aladdin), Xosé Monge (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Belén Moyano (Hadestown), Ari Notartomaso (Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies), James Olivas (Evita), Jennifer Sanchez (Real Women Have Curves), AJ Shively (Bright Star), Elizabeth Teeter (Heathers: The Musical), Cindy Tsai (The Jordan and Avery Show), Lucas Wu (Wonder Pets), and Anna Zavelson (Masquerade).

Works being performed include Finn, with a book and lyrics by Chris Dimond and Chris Nee, and music by Michael Kooman, directed by Marc BruniAlice Bliss, featuring a book by Karen Hartman, music by Jenny Giering, and lyrics by Adam Gwon, directed by Chay Yew; The King of Harlem, by Jon-Michael Lyles (A Strange Loop) and David Gomez, directed by Raja Feather KellyLove is Deadfeaturing a book and music by Brett Ryback and a book and lyrics by Jeff Luppino-Esposito, directed by Amy Anders CorcoranParticle, with a book by Selda Sahin, Autumn Reeser, and Derek Gregor, with music by Gregor and lyrics by Sahin, directed by Zi AlikhanRoja, featuring a book, music, and lyrics by Jaime Lozano and Tommy Newman, directed by Florencia CuencaSoft Magical Tofu Boy(s), by Kevin Wong and directed by Telly Leung; and Wakeman, by Jenn Grinels and directed by Sarna Lapine.

Also featured will be daily afternoon College Roadtrip cabarets, each of which will showcase songs from musical projects developed at colleges and universities nationwide. Included will be works developed at Florida State University, including songs by Sam Caps, Annie Dillon, Phillip Palmer, and Stacey Luftig; Michigan State University, featuring songs by Joey Contreras, Ryan Scott Oliver, Sonya Hayden, and Matt Lowy; Syracuse University, featuring songs by abs wilson, Veronica Mansour, Letitia Bullard, and Nathan Leitāo; and San Diego State University, featuring sons by Bobby Cronin, Caroline Prugh, Lynne Shankel, Crystal Skillman, Derek Gregor, Phoebe Kreutz, T.C. Ling, and Oliver.
