Broadway Inspirational Voices (BIV) is a diverse community choir of Broadway professionals united through music and service. Formed in 1994 by Tony and Grammy nominated performer Michael McElroy (RENT, Big River, The Wild Party) the original Broadway Gospel Choirs mission was to provide comfort, joy, and the promise of a brighter day in the face of the AIDS epidemic. Renamed Broadway Inspirational Voices in 1999, the choir has since held membership from more than 140 Broadway shows, and in 2019, the Tony Awards Administration Committee presented the Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre to BIV. In 2020, McElroy selected Allen René Louis to replace him as artistic director of BIV, and Better Days will mark the first major fundraising event of Louis' tenure.
