American Songbook Association is honoring the Tony-winning Ragtime songwriters.

Lillias White and Alton Fitzgerald White have joined the roster of stars set to honor Tony-winning songwriters Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty at the American Songbook Association's fifth annual gala October 6. The 7:30 PM event, entitled Ahrens and Flaherty: On the Wheels of a Dream, will be held at New York's Merkin Hall at the Kaufman Music Center.

They join a previously announced slate including Kate Baldwin, Nikki Renée Daniels, Hannah Elless, Robert Anthony Jones, Derek Klena, Ann Kittredge, Janine LaManna, Tony winner Kecia Lewis, A.J. Shively, Nathan Salstone, Elizabeth Stanley, and Lili Thomas

Dan Green will serve as musical director for the evening, which will feature tunes from such Ahrens and Flaherty musicals as Ragtime, Once on This Island, Seussical, and more.

Tony-winning producer Jamie deRoy will also be honored with the Bill Sensenbrenner Dream Maker Award for her dedication to supporting the performing arts. The award is given annually to an arts or business leader who exhibits a passion for investing in the cultural capital of our youth.

Songwriting partners Ahrens (lyrics) and Flaherty (music) won the 1998 Tony Award for Best Original Score for Ragtime. Their numerous other musicals include Little Dancer, Anastasia, Dessa Rose, Once On This Island, Rocky, The Glorious Ones, A Man of No Importance, Seussical, and My Favorite Year.

The nonprofit American Songbook Association Inc. seeks to preserve, promote, and advance the legacy of American popular music, the Great American Songbook (classic and new), and the unique art form of cabaret.
