The Educational Theatre Association has announced a leadership change.
Per an email sent to EdTA membership and shared with Playbill, "after much consideration Dr. Jennifer Katona has made the difficult and personal decision to resign from the Educational Theatre Association as of March 24. We are grateful for her dedication to the Association and Foundation and her tremendous work and the value of theatre education she brought to the students, educators and field during her tenure. We thank her for her service and wish her well." Katona was appointed to the role in 2022
Jay Gerlach has been appointed interim executive director and will lead the group as they embark on a search for a full-time replacement.
EdTA is committed to supporting and increasing access to theatre education in schools nationwide. The organization is the home of the International Thespian Society, an internationally recognized honors program for high school-aged theatre students; and produces the annual International Thespian Festival.
