Warner Bros. has announced a third release date for the Bradley Cooper-Lady Gaga remake of A Star Is Born, which will now premiere October 5, 2018—in the final rush leading up to awards season.
This is the third release date announced for the picture, which was originally slated to debut September 28, 2018, and was later pushed up to May 18, 2018.
Cooper, who also directs, stars as fading country musician Jackson Maine who discovers Ally (Lady Gaga), an unknown singer with raw talent. Their intense relationship begins to derail as Ally’s career skyrockets. The film will feature new songs written by Gaga.
The cast also includes Andrew Dice Clay, Anthony Ramos, and Sam Elliott. Producers include Cooper, Billy Gerber, Todd Phillips, Lynette Howell Tayor, and Jon Peters; Basil Iwanyk is the executive producer.
The original 1937 film A Star Is Born was co-written by Dorothy Parker and Alan Campbell, and starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. It was remade in 1954 with James Mason and Judy Garland, then remade again in 1976 with Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand.
A Star is Born is being produced by Bill Gerber, Jon Peters, Bradley Cooper, Todd Phillips and Lynette Howell Taylor; with Basil Iwanyk and Ravi Mehta serving as executive producers. The screenplay is by Will Fetters & Bradley Cooper and Eric Roth, based on a story by William A. Wellman and Robert Carson.
