L.A. Theatre Works has announced its 2016-17 season of seven shows to be performed and recorded. Included in the slate are Danai Gurira’s Eclipsed and James Lapine’s Act One, which both played on Broadway.
All shows will be performed without sets or costumes at UCLA’s James Bridges Theater, and broadcast on the organization’s public radio show.
The season will kick off with Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus, directed by Rosalind Ayres (September 22-24); followed by Eclipsed (October 27-30); and Richard Greenberg’s The Assembled Parties (November 17-20). Directors for the two latter productions will be announced at a later date.
In the new year, L.A. Theatre Works will stage and record Seven by Paula Cizmar, Catherine Filloux, Gail Kreigel, Carol K. Mack, Ruth Margraff, Anna Deavere Smith and Susan Yankowitz (January 26-29, 2017); Timberlake Wertenbaker’s Jefferson’s Garden, directed by Kate McAll (March 23-26); and Act One, directed by Christopher Hart (April 27-30).
The season will conclude with the world premiere of The Tug of War by David Rambo, directed by Martin Jarvis (May 25-28).
