The son of conductor Kurt Masur, Ken Masur received a B.A. in music from Columbia University, where he co-founded its Bach Society, in 2002. He has been an assistant conductor of the Orchestre National de France and collaborated last year with Colin Davis on the ONF's performances of Holst's The Planets.
Born in Leipzig, Masur studied orchestration with Tristan Murail, composition with Joseph Dubiel and conducting with his father and Jeffery Milarsky. A baritone as well, he studies with Thomas Quasthoff. He is currently music director of the Ensemble Berlinprojekt in Germany.
