Classic Arts News Ken Masur Named Resident Conductor of San Antonio Symphony Ken Masur has been named resident conductor of the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra, the San Antonio Express-News reported yesterday.
Masur replaces David In-Jae Cho, now the assistant conductor of the Utah Symphony. He will conduct 24 Young People's Concerts, four Interactive Family Classics concerts and the Sounds of Summer community concerts each season.

The son of conductor Kurt Masur, Ken Masur received a B.A. in music from Columbia University, where he co-founded its Bach Society, in 2002. He has been an assistant conductor of the Orchestre National de France and collaborated last year with Colin Davis on the ONF's performances of Holst's The Planets.

Born in Leipzig, Masur studied orchestration with Tristan Murail, composition with Joseph Dubiel and conducting with his father and Jeffery Milarsky. A baritone as well, he studies with Thomas Quasthoff. He is currently music director of the Ensemble Berlinprojekt in Germany.
