News Kathryn Erbe Cast as Mom of Gay Son in New Comedy Dating My Mother Filming begins next week for the Mike Roma motion picture.

Kathryn Erbe, who was seen on Broadway this past season with Frank Langella in The Father, will star opposite newcomer Patrick Reilly in the film comedy Dating My Mother.

Written and directed by Mike Roma, the cast also features Kathy Najimy (Veep), James Le Gros (Girls) and Paul Iacono (The Hard Times of RJ Berger).

Dating My Mother, according to production notes, “explores the intimate and sometimes tumultuous relationship between a single mother (Erbe) and her gay son (Reilly). Together they navigate the world of online dating as they search for their versions of ’Mr. Right.’” Le Gros co-stars as Erbe’s love interest, Najimy as her neighbor, and Iacono plays Reilly’s potential boyfriend.

Shooting is scheduled to begin August 22 in New Jersey. Release date has not been set.

The film is produced by Ashley Hillis and executive-produced by Roma and Reilly. Doug Haley and Shannon Makhanian are the casting directors.
