Streaming Kate Baldwin Concert-Documentary Film to Stream in Benefit of Skylight Music Theatre; Watch a Sneak Preview

Broadway Comes Home captures the Broadway favorite visiting her hometown and giving an intimate concert.

Broadway Comes Home, a hybrid documentary and concert film featuring two-time Tony nominee Kate Baldwin, will stream via Skylight Music Theatre September 9–18, with proceeds benefitting the Wisconsin theatre. The film captures an intimate concert Baldwin gave for a small, invited audience on the stage of Skylight's Cabot Theatre, along with scenes from a visit to her hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Watch a trailer for the upcoming release above. A sneak peek at Baldwin's performance of "Look to the Rainbow" is below.

Baldwin received Tony Award nominations for her performances as Irene Molloy in Hello, Dolly!, and Sharon McLonergan in Finian's Rainbow. Her stage credits also include Broadway's Big FishWonderful Town, and Thoroughly Modern Millie; and Off-Broadway's Giant.

The film includes footage of Baldwin leading a master class with drama students from Shorewood High School, the Broadway favorite's alma mater, two of which perform with her at the concert, Clara McElfresh and Ginny Mitchell. Cameras are also on hand as Baldwin pays tribute to some of the mentors and artists that proved formative while growing up, including vocal coach Lee Dougherty Ross and teacher Pam Kriger. Baldwin hopes the film will be the first of a series of filmed concerts of Broadway artists returning to their hometowns to give special performances.

"I carry with me all that I learned in my hometown," said Baldwin. “At the first rehearsal for my first Broadway show, Thoroughly Modern Millie, our director Michael Mayer asked us to state our names and where we were born. Of the 50 or so artists who were about to create a Tony-winning Broadway hit show, only two were from New York City. The rest were just like me, born and raised in another great American city."

Baldwin is accompanied by Georgia Stitt, with special guests including guitarist Steven Lewandowski and performer Kevin James Sievert. The documentary is co-produced by Baldwin and 23-time Emmy winner HMS Media.

Broadway Comes Home will be available to stream from September 9 at SkylightMusicTheatre.org.
