The honors, recognizing the best in Toronto theatre, will be handed out September 19.

Nominations for the 42nd Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, recognizing the best of Toronto theatre, were revealed August 29, with the Broadway-bound & Juliet among the most-nominated productions. The West End transfer earned eight nods, including Outstanding Production. The top spot went to Talk is Free Theatre's Sweeney Todd, which earned nominations in 13 categories.

The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts announced the nominations at a press conference at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre, and winners will be revealed at a September 19 ceremony at The Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre in the Elgin Theatre.

Also earning nominations were Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, earning eight nods including Outstanding Production; and Jape Epstein's Boy Falls From the Sky, with six including Outstanding New Musical.

The honors also announced winners in non-competitive categories, with production craftsperson Monica Lee receiving the 2022 Pauline McGibbon Award, which includes a $7,000 prize; Kaeja d'Dance Co-Artistic Director Karen Kaeja taking the George Luscombe Mentorship Award, including a $1,000 prize; Playwrights Guild of Canada Professional Contracts Manager Rebecca Burton receiving the Leonard McHardy and John Harvey Award, including a $1,000 prize; and Soulpepper Theatre Company Executive Assistant Idil Djafer taking the Victor C. Polley Protégé Award, which includes a $500 prize.

Theatre fans are encouraged to place their own vote for the best nominee within the Outstanding Production category. The winner of the online vote will receive the Jon Kaplan Audience Choice Award. Votes will be accepted at TAPA.ca through September 12.
