Julia Knitel, recently seen Off-Broadway in Dead Outlaw, plays Carole King in Cape Playhouse's staging of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical beginning July 10 in Dennis, Massachusetts.
Directed by David Ruttura with choreography by Joyce Chittick, the Tony-nominated Broadway musical charting the rise of songwriter King will continue through August 3.
The cast also features Sam Gravitte (Wicked) as Gerry Goffin, Trevor James Berger as Barry Mann, James Clow as Don Kirshner, Valerie Perri as Genie Kline, Brooke Aneece as Shirelle, Briana Brooks as Lucille, Chris Collins-Pisano as Tenor Righteous Brother, Fatima El-Bashir as Janelle Woods, Ellen Frary as Marilyn Wald/Betty, Albert Igbinigie as Drifter, Jacquez Linder-Long as Drifter, Jazz Madison as Little Eva, and Rhys Williams as Baritone Righteous Brother.
Beautiful, with a book by Douglas McGrath, also has musical direction by Nick Williams, scenic design by Ryan Howell, costume design by Gail Baldoni, lighting design by Kirk Bookman, sound design by Emma Wilk, and production stage management by Daniel Everett.
The Cape Playhouse season will continue with Waitress (August 7–24) and The 39 Steps (August 28–September 7).
