Disney's 30th anniversary celebration of Beauty and the Beast is shaping up to be a Broadway heavy affair.
The animated classic, which will be reimagined in a new two-hour version, will star Josh Groban as the titular Beast, alongside R&B superstar H.E.R. as Belle. Groban previously recorded the song "Evermore" for the 2017 live-action film of Beauty and the Beast.
They will be joined by current Into the Woods star Joshua Henry as the dastardly Gaston, and EGOT winner Rita Moreno as the evening's narrator. Jon M. Chu, film director of In the Heights and Wicked, will executive produce the special, and Hamish Hamilton will direct.
Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration will be filmed in front of a live studio audience, and broadcast December 15 on both ABC and Disney+.
