National Tour News Jordan Markus Will Lead the 3rd Year of MJ's National Tour

The performer made his Broadway and national touring debuts in the role.

The national tour of MJ has revealed full casting for its third year on the road, with Jordan Markus continuing to lead the company in the title role. Markus made his Broadway and national touring debuts playing the role, and has been with the national touring company since it launched.

Melvin Gray Jr. will share the role of MJ as the alternate, with Quentin Blanton Jr. as Little Michael, Bryce A. Holmes as Little Michael, Brandon Lee Harris as Michael, Devin Bowles as Joseph Jackson/Rob, Kevin Cruz as Alejandro, J. Daughtry as Berry Gordy/Nick, Rajané Katurah as Katherine Jackson/Kate, Michael Nero as Tito Jackson/Quincy Jones, Austin Rankin as Little Marlon, Jed Resnick as Dave, and Kristin Stokes as Rachel.

The third-year ensemble will comprise Kolby Colmary, Zuri Noelle Ford, Andy Golden, Treston J. HendersonRachel LockhartMichaela Marfori, Matteo Marretta, Avilon Trust Tate, and Brion Marquis Watson. Understudies, swings, and standbys include Erik Hamilton, Omarion Burke, Joshua Dawson, Ghrai DeVore-Stokes, Ui-Seng François, Jahir L. Hipps, Skye Jackson-Williams, Faith Jones, Jacobi Kai, Kendrick Mitchell, Zion Mikhail Pradier, Daria Pilar Redus, and Tyrone Reese will round out the company.

MJ began Broadway previews December 6, 2021, at the Neil Simon prior to an official opening February 1, 2022.

The musical features a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and a score made up of some of the most popular songs in recording history. Tony Award winner Wheeldon directs and choreographs.

MJ also has sets by Derek McLane, lighting by Natasha Katz, costumes by Paul Tazewell, sound design by Gareth Owen, projection design by Peter Nigrini, hair and wig design by Charles LaPointe, music direction by Jason Michael Webb, musical supervision by David Holcenberg, and orchestrations by Holcenberg and Webb. Casting is by Rachel Hoffman of The Telsey Office.

The show took home four Tony Awards in total, including Best Actor in a Musical for Myles Frost, Best Choreography, Best Lighting Design in a Musical, and Best Sound Design in a Musical.

MJ is produced on Broadway and on tour by Lia Vollack, John Branca, and John McClain.
