Jodie Comer was named the winner of the 2023 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play at the 76th Annual Tony Awards, held June 11 at United Palace in Washington Heights.
The Killing Eve star won the prize for her work as Tessa in Prima Facie.
"This woman and this play have been my greatest teacher," said Comer accepting the award onstage. "To every person who feels represented by Tessa, this has been my greatest honor."
Others in that category included Jessica Chastain for A Doll's House, Jessica Hecht for Summer, 1976, and Audra McDonald for Ohio State Murders.
Prima Facie marks Comer's Broadway debut. It is her first Tony nomination and her first win. She previously won a Best Actress Olivier Award for her West End performance in the one-woman show. She is best known for her Emmy-winning turn in Killing Eve.
