Off-Broadway News Joan of Arc: Into the Fire Opens at the Public David Byrne and Alex Timbers’ new rock musical concert opens Off-Broadway March 15.

The world premiere of Joan of Arc: Into the Fire officially opens at the Public Theater March 15 following previews that began Off-Broadway February 14. The new rock musical features music, book, and lyrics by Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe winner David Byrne and direction by Golden Globe winner Alex Timbers.

Byrne and Timbers reunite following their acclaimed earlier collaboration at the downtown theatre, Here Lies Love. In their newest work, they chronicle the rise of the iconic historical figure who was burned at the stake—played by Jo Lampert in the debut staging.

Joan of Arc: Into the Fire is scheduled to play an extended engagement through April 16. Steven Hoggett is choreographer.

The cast also includes Emmy Award winner Mare Winningham (Isabelle); Terence Archie (Warwick); James Brown III (Priest, Judge); Jonathan Burke (Priest, Judge); Rodrick Covington (Priest, Judge); Sean Allan Krill (Bishop Cauchon); Mike McGowan (La Tremouille); Mary Kate Morrissey (Female Standby); Dimitri Joseph Moïse (Male Swing); Adam Perry (Priest, Judge); John Schiappa (Priest, Judge); Kyle Selig (Dauphin, King Charles); and Michael James Shaw (Baudricourt).
