A TikTok live event July 29 at 7 PM ET will celebrate Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Musical and its studio cast album, which released via Ghostlight Records in 2023.

On hand for the event will be Jeff Kinney, author of the novel series that inspired the musical; plus the musical's creators, Alan Schmuckler and Kevin Del Aguila. Tony winner Jessie Mueller, who sings on the musical's album, will make a special appearance. Fans can tune in on TikTok via the handle @wimpykidofficial.

Along with Mueller, the album's cast includes Om Angarkar, Cody Braverman, Crede Cole Cooper, Michael Deaner, Winter Donnelly, Kai Edgar, Avery Espiritu, Corey J, Sid Kamat, Kylie Kuioka, Livvy Marcus, Soren Miller, Khadija Sankoh, Lily Nicole Tolchin, Colin Trudell, Samuel Li Weintraub, Norbert Leo Butz, Del Aguila, and Sutton Foster.

With a book by 2023 Tony nominee Del Aguila (Some Like It Hot) and a score by Michael Mahler and Schmuckler, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical premiered at Children's Theatre Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2016. A revised version played the same company in 2022. The musical is available for licensing via Broadway Licensing.

The show follows the trials and tribulations of tween middle school student Greg Heffley, the titular "wimpy kid" forced to share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving.

The musical was created in collaboration with 20th Century Studios and by special arrangement with Kevin McCollum and Buena Vista Theatrical—the work also credits the book series' film adaptations as its source material.
