The Williamstown Theatre Festival production of Sarah Ruhl’s The Clean House, a 2005 Pulitzer Prize finalist, begins performances July 19 on the Main Stage. Tony winner Rebecca Taichman (Indecent) directs the limited engagement, which continues through July 29.
Tony nominees Jessica Hecht and Jayne Atkinson star in the heartfelt comedy; the cast also includes Tony winner Priscilla Lopez and Bernard White.
In The Clean House, accomplished physician Lane (Atkinson) discovers that her sister Virginia (Hecht)—not her Brazilian housekeeper Matilde (Guenia Lemos)—has been cleaning her home every day. “Though never close, suddenly the sisters find themselves enmeshed in each other’s lives and in Matilde’s great passion for Portuguese jokes,” according to press notes.
A post-show talkback is scheduled for July 25; a Lawn Talk will be held prior to the July 23 matinee.
Tickets may be purchased online, by phone, or in person at the Box Office, located at the ‘62 Center for Theatre and Dance Box Office at 1000 Main St. (Route 2), Williamstown, Massachusetts.
