Off-Broadway's Studio Seaview is giving over its Monday nights to a new solo show written and starring Jesse EisenbergThe Ziegfeld Files. The work will perform for seven performances only, October 6, 20, and 27; November 3, 17, and 24; and December 1. Shayok Misha Chowdhury is directing.

The work, which will be read on-book by Eisenberg, draws from therapy recordings of a new father struggling to connect with his baby. The play is being presented in the Off-Broadway venue on dark nights from its usual offering, the encore run of Jordan Tannahill's Prince Faggot, also directed by Chowdhury.

Arguably best known as a screen actor whose credits include The Social Network and A Real Pain, Eisenberg's stage playwriting work includes The SpoilsThe RevisionistAsuncion, and Happy Talk.

“I’m equal parts thrilled and terrified of performing my play, The Ziegfeld Files," says Eisenberg in a statement. "I am so grateful to Seaview for producing it and giving me somewhere to go on Mondays! I am also very happy that part of the proceeds will be going to organizations providing relief in Haiti—which makes sense when you see the show!"

“In a culture obsessed with spectacles of feeling (grief posts, confessions, viral apology videos), Jesse is painting us an uncommonly human portrait of a millennial parent struggling to feel correctly," adds Chowdhury. "I’ve admired Jesse’s work for years, he’s an exquisite storyteller, and in The Ziegfeld Files, he’s inviting us into a story about ambivalence and doubt. I’m so thrilled audiences will get to experience it at Seaview this fall.”

The performances, which will be held on the set (designed by David Zinn) of Prince Faggot, will feature lighting design by Isabella Byrd and sound design by Lee Kinney. Amanda Michaels will serve as production stage manager, with Hudson Theatrical Associates as production supervisors and Seaview's Jonathan Whitton general managing.

Tickets are at TheZiegfeldFiles.com.
