Jess LeProtto and Tamika Lawrence Get Personal on "The Ensemblist," and Side Show Photo Journal Released | Playbill

News Jess LeProtto and Tamika Lawrence Get Personal on "The Ensemblist," and Side Show Photo Journal Released Mo Brady (The Addams Family, "Smash") and Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) have released new episodes of "The Ensemblist" — a podcast featuring Broadway backstage stories — featuring Newsies' Jess LeProtto and If/Then's Tamika Lawrence.

"The Ensemblist," according to press notes, "is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer — from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you're an experienced theatre professional or just a passionate fan, 'The Ensemblist' gives listeners the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of Broadway."

The first of the listener-questions episodes features LeProtto (On The Town, Newsies, Bye Bye Birdie, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Boy From Oz), who talks about some of his most memorable opening-night gifts, life on tour and what it was like working with Hugh Jackman.

The second guest to answer listeners' questions is Lawrence (If/Then, Matilda the Musical, The Book of Mormon), who opens up about auditions, her education, what the rehearsal process was like for If/Then and more.

Additionally, at TheEnsemblist.com in the coming weeks, there will be some photo features from Side Show and Rock of Ages. Side Show swing Brandon Andrus has captured a series of photographs of his fellow ensemblists in preparation for their shows. The Ensemblist is currently featuring one of these black-and-white photographs each day of the week before the production closes Jan. 4, 2015.

Rock of Ages' Cody Scott Lancaster has been in the role of Franz for over three years on Broadway. During that time, he has worked with dozens of ensemblists, including the women who played and covered the memorable role of Waitress #1. In the week before closing, Jan. 12-18, 2015, The Ensemblist will share one photo per day of each actress who played the role during Lancaster's run. New episodes of "The Ensemblist" can be downloaded every two weeks through the iTunes store by searching for "The Ensemblist." Episodes can also be downloaded directly from Podbean at TheEnsemblist.podbean.com.
