Delaware Theatre Company has revealed casting for its upcoming world premiere musical Glory Ride, set to perform February 25-March 15 at the Wilmington, Delaware, company.
The work, by Victoria and Todd Buchholz, made its world premiere at London's Charing Cross Theatre in 2022. DTC has been further developing the piece for the U.S. debut, holding industry readings of the full staging.
Starring in the U.S. premiere will be Matthew Amira (Gatsby), Jared Zirilli (Summer: The Donna Summer Musical), Gavin Gregory, Neal Mayer, Patrick Oliver Jones, Sean Luc Rogers, Stephanie Prestage, Willem Ford Butler, Elbi Cespedes, Chris Marsh Clark, Lincoln Cohen, David Hoffman, Cody Howard, Bri Javis, Isabella Kaplan, Corinne Munsch, Michael Notardonato, Trevor Michael Schmidt, Scott Silagy, Everett Lalka Sobers, and Brooke Sterling. Casting is by Jason Styres.
The musical—featuring music and lyrics by Victoria Buccholz, and a book by Victoria and Todd Buchholz—tells the true story of Tour de France champion Gino Bartali, whose secret life saw him saving innocent lives from Mussolini's Fascist regime during World War II. DTC hopes that Broadway is in the future for the project.
Michael Bello is directing, leading a creative team also including choreographer Denis Jones (Tootsie), music director James Woods, scenic designer Beowulf Boritt, costume designer Alejo Vietti, wig designers Krystal Balleza and Will Vicari, lighting designer Cory Pattak, sound designer Daniel Lundberg, and projection designer Nicholas Hussong.
