Jack Thorne and Matthew WarchusA Christmas Carol is returning to NYC, this time for a holiday 2025 run at Off-Broadway's Perelman Performing Arts Center. Adapted from the Charles Dickens classic, the play will begin November 23 ahead of a December 4 opening night, with performances continuing through December 28.

The play, written by Thorne and conceived and directed by Warchus, premiered at London's Old Vic (where Warchus is artistic director) in 2017, and has been presented there annually since. A Broadway run came in 2019, with Tony-winning Broadway favorites LaChanze and Andrea Martin in the cast. The holiday run became an unlikely five-time Tony winner at the meager, pandemic-affected 2020 ceremony, sweeping the Design of a Play categories and also taking Best Original Score. Producers had planned to make a holiday Broadway run an annual tradition, but only a 2021 U.S. tour has happened so far.

And the upcoming New York run will be more immersive than previous stagings. At its London home, the play is presented with a partial thrust stage coming into the audience area, which was not repeated for the Broadway bow. PAC NYC's mounting will use its reconfigurable space to place seating all around the stage for the first time.

Casting is to be announced.

The holiday presentation features Tony-winning sets and costumes by Rob Howell, Tony-winning music and arrangements by Christopher Nightingale, Tony-winning lighting by Hugh Vanstone, Tony-winning sound by Simon Baker, and movement by Lizzi Gee.

"Matthew and Jack’s production of A Christmas Carol is stunning and incredibly entertaining," says PAC NYC Artistic Director Bill Rauch. "We are thrilled that multiple generations of families will be able to enjoy this story together and our theatres can offer the uniquely immersive staging that the artists originally dreamt up."

Tickets are currently on sale for PAC NYC members and Citi cardmembers. General sales begin September 9.
