Dead Outlaw's not dead—or at least it might not be! The musical, which played a hit Off-Broadway run at Minetta Lane Theatre via Audible Theater earlier this year, is apparently looking at Broadway theatres for an uptown transfer, as per an Instagram post from the musical's co-songwriter, David Yazbek.
"Looking for the RIGHT Broadway theatre for next spring," reads Yazbek's post, which includes a promo montage from the Off-Broadway run.

The musical's world premiere became one of the season's most award-winning musicals, taking the Drama Desk, Off Broadway Alliance, and New York Drama Critics Circle Awards for Best New Musical.
The work features music and lyrics by Yazbek (The Band's Visit) and Erik Della Penna, and a book by Tony winner Itamar Moses (The Band's Visit). Based on a bizarre but somehow completely true story, the story follows Elmer McCurdy—an ambitious, turn-of-the-20th-century outlaw whose death ended a life of failed crime and alcoholism and began a brilliant career as a mummified side-show attraction that traveled the USA for decades. The project is the brainchild of Yazbek, who reportedly has been fascinated with the story for three decades. David Cromer directed the world premiere.
Dead Outlaw is Audible Theater's first-ever commissioned musical, and has been recorded for a global release as an Audible Original. Details of a release for that recording, which reportedly includes the entire show adapted as an audio play, have not yet been made public.
The Off-Broadway cast included Jeb Brown, Eddie Cooper, Andrew Durand, Dashiell Eaves, Julia Knitel, Ken Marks, Trent Saunders, and Thom Sesma.
