Hugh Jackman appeared April 1 on The Tonight Show to discuss his fraught experiences with April Fools' Day, his lackluster skills as a liar, and The Music Man. Jackman shared the story of a border patrol mixup that nearly had him deported, and the surprise opening night gifts he received from his nemesis Ryan Reynolds.

Jackman, who is currently starring as Harold Hill in the revival of The Music Man, told the audience, "We're just having the best time. The Winter Garden Theatre is just filled with joy. This show is filled with joy, but you can feel that the audience is happy to be back... Sutton Foster, I think, is the greatest in the world at what she does, which is seemingly everything... it's like every night I get to go to an All-Star game where everyone is actually trying!"

Jackman also played The Tonight Show staple game Box of Lies, where he congratulated band leader Questlove on his Oscar win for the documentary Summer of Soul.
