Heidi Schreck's Obie-winning and Pulitzer Prize finalist play What the Constitution Means to Me will play three performances at Theatre Aspen later this summer.
The August 27 at 7 PM and August 28 at 4 PM and 7 PM performances in the Hurst Theatre will benefit Theatre Aspen’s education programming.
Cassie Beck, reprising her performance from the national tour, will star, joined by MJ Sieber as Legionnaire and local 12th grader Natalie Stephens as Debater. Michael Rader, executive producer of the Colorado venue, will direct.
In What The Constitution Means to Me, a 15-year-old Heidi competes for college scholarships by participating in Constitutional debate competitions across the country.
Schreck’s play was a hit Off-Broadway at New York Theatre Workshop in 2018 before transferring to Broadway in 2019 and receiving two Tony nominations. Following Broadway, What the Constitution Means to Me played the Eisenhower Theater at the Kennedy Center as well as sit-down engagements in Los Angeles and Chicago and more.
Schreck’s performance on Broadway was captured and released in October 2020 on Amazon Prime.
Beck has been seen on Broadway in The Rose Tattoo and The Humans.
