A host of Broadway favorites will be part of the 2024–2025 Tisch Music Season at the 92nd St. Y.
Celebrating the American Songbook will be Tony winner Kelli O'Hara (October 10 at 7:30 PM), Tony winner Heather Headley (November 24 at 2 PM), Tony winner Alex Newell (May 8, 2025 at 7:30 PM), and Emmy winner Darren Criss (June 9, 2025 at 7:30 PM).
The famed Manhattan venue has also announced the lineup for its long-running Lyrics & Lyricists series.
Cockeyed Optimist: Where Hammerstein Found His Hope—an exploration of the songs of Oscar Hammerstein II from Tony nominee Dick Scanlan—will kick off the series October 26-28. Lempicka Tony nominee Amber Iman, who portrayed Nina Simone in Broadway's Soul Doctor, will then celebrate the music and legacy of the jazz icon December 7–9 in Rebel With a Cause: The Artistry and Activism of Nina Simone.
An Evening with Rosanne Cash, featuring the Grammy winner performing songs from her body of work, will be held February 13, 2025, while a tribute to late Rent composer-lyricist, Jonathan Larson, will be held March 1–3. Entitled Louder Than Words: The Songs and Legacy of Jonathan Larson, the performances will be led by James Nicola, former artistic director of New York Theater Workshop, where Rent was first workshopped.
Sing Happy!: The Collaboration of Kander & Ebb will conclude the Lyrics & Lyricists season June 1-3, 2025. Longtime Kander and Ebb music director David Loud will lead the celebration of the creators of Cabaret, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Woman of the Year, The Scottsboro Boys, The Visit, and more.
