Vanessa Carlton, whose 2002 singles "A Thousand Miles" and "Ordinary Day" became breakthrough hits and remain soft pop standards, makes her Broadway debut in the title role of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical beginning June 27.

The Grammy nominee succeeds long-running title player Chilina Kennedy at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. She'll play a limited engagement through September 1.

Since her debut album Be Not Nobody, the Nashville-based artist has released Harmonium, Heroes & Thieves, Rabbits on the Run, and Liberman. She joins a lineup of women to play the beloved pop songwriter on Broadway, including Jessie Mueller (who earned a Tony for the role), her sister Abby Mueller, Kennedy, and Supergirl star Melissa Benoist.

The current cast also includes Ben Jacoby as Barry Mann, Kara Lindsay as Cynthia Weil, Evan Todd as Gerry Goffin, and Michele Pawk as Genie Klein.
