Inspired by the life and art of the late Michael Jackson, MJ opened at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre February 1 after the production began previews December 6, 2021. The production makes Broadway history as the first to offer four separate Playbill covers, beginning opening night and continuing through the month of February in celebration of Black History Month.
